An earthquake of magnitude 4.8 on the Richter scale hit the Andaman and Nicobar Islands region at 2:09 pm on Tuesday. The epicentre of the earthquake was 59 kilometres below sea level. No casualties or loss of life have so far been reported by authorities. This is the second earthquake to hit the region in two days.
