A 5.9-magnitude earthquake struck Japan's Kagoshima region on Wednesday. No tsunami warning had been issued immediately after the earthquake and there were no initial reports of casualties or major damage. The quake's epicentre was off Okinawa's main island, striking at a depth of 50 kilometres. Authorities advised residents to "Drop, Cover, and Hold On" during the shaking.
