50 million facing acute food insecurity: East African Bloc

Over 50 million people in East Africa are expected to experience acute food insecurity this year, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development has said. The eight-country bloc said around 300,000 people in Somalia and South Sudan would experience total famine conditions. United Nations agencies and other groups have recently cautioned over the region's food shortage.
