Kenyan tennis player Angella Okutoyi, who is currently ranked 532nd in the world rankings, defeated Egypt's 70th-ranked Mayar Sherif 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5) to reach the final of African Games 2024's women's singles event. The match went on for nearly four and half hours. Okutoyi registered her first win against a player ranked among the top 100 in world rankings.
