According to a report, 42% of teaching posts are empty across schools run by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The civic body has 5,587 vacant positions for the teaching staff. Vacancies in English-medium schools are around 14%. Reportedly, in the last 10 years, 110 Marathi-medium schools run by the BMC have been shut down across Mumbai.
