On February 6, 1958, a plane carrying Manchester United players and staff members, crashed while taking off from Munich, leaving 21 dead instantly. The team, nicknamed 'Busby Babes', was returning after playing a European Cup tie. As a memorial, a two-faced clock, with '6 Feb 1958' at the top, was installed at Manchester United's home stadium, Old Trafford in 1960.
