5th heatwave hits UK in 2026, 'risk to life' alert issued

UK recorded its hottest day of the year on Thursday as the country experiences its fifth heatwave of 2026. The Met Office issued an alert which warns of a risk to life. "This is the second time this year we have reached 38°C. The only other time this has happened twice in one year was in 2022," Met Office said.
