The Mumbai-Pune Expressway e-challan system has issued over 18.25 lakh fines from July to December 2024. Shockingly, 6.24 lakh were found to be incorrect, as revealed by an RTI. With one in three challans wrong, citizens are demanding algorithm reviews, more transparency, and human oversight, questioning whether automation is delivering justice or punishing the innocent.
