Scientists reanalysed data from NASA's 2015 New Horizons flyby and identified six massive landslides near Pluto's Sputnik Planitia. The largest landslide spanned about 130 sq km, roughly twice Manhattan's land area. Landslides on Pluto travel unusually far, suggesting low friction, possibly linked to the planet's low gravity and volatile nitrogen and methane ices in its extremely cold conditions.
