60% of liver cancer cases preventable worldwide: Lancet study

A Lancet Commission study found that over 60% of liver cancer cases are preventable by targeting hepatitis, alcohol, and metabolic liver diseases. It warned of a 35% rise in cases due to fatty liver disease and urged vaccination, screening, alcohol control, and awareness to reduce the global burden by up to 17 million cases and 15 million deaths.
