Recalling the incident which claimed the lives of 11 people, a Bengaluru stampede eyewitness said many people came without tickets and tried to climb the gates of Chinnaswamy Stadium. He stated 600-700 people broke open the gates and tried to enter the stadium which led to the stampede. The crowd had gathered to celebrate RCB's maiden IPL title win.
