A CAG report has revealed that the Govt. lost Rs. 3000 crore to charitable trusts and institutions across the country by means of undeserved tax rebates. Sources said that the auditor reviewed accounts of at least 80,000 of the registered six lakh trusts, until assessment year 2009-10, covering almost all major trusts and charitable organizations to discover the wrongful exemptions.
