The Shiveluch volcano has erupted in Russia following a 7.0 earthquake that struck off Russia’s east coast, state-run media TASS reported. There were no injuries due to the quake or its aftershocks that struck 55 miles from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, but local residents reported furniture being toppled during the tremor. The volcano's ash column rose 8 kilometres above sea level.
