A seven-year-old boy from Kerala's Malappuram district died after being infected with Shigella, a bacterial disease that affects the intestines. This is the fourth Shigella-related death reported in the state this year and third in June. Kerala had recorded 138 confirmed Shigella cases till June 14, with the highest number reported in Kozhikode district, as per Directorate of Health Services.
