70-million-year-old shark teeth found in Egypt's desert

Researchers have discovered 14 fossilised shark teeth belonging to at least five extinct species in Egypt's Western Desert. Found at the Abu-Tartur Plateau, the fossils date back over 70 million years to the Late Cretaceous period. The discovery reveals that the region, now part of the Sahara Desert, was once submerged beneath a warm tropical sea supporting diverse marine life.
