71-year-old Romeo becomes world's oldest manatee ever recorded

Romeo, a West Indian manatee aged at least 71, has been recognised as the oldest recorded manatee, according to Guinness World Records. Rescued near Miami in 1957, he has spent decades in managed care and currently lives at Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park in Florida. His age far exceeds the species' typical 30 to 40-year lifespan in the wild.
