73% of the students drop out before higher secondary in govt schools: Panel

A parliamentary panel flagged a "drastic decline" in the number of schools and students as education levels rise, and said nearly 73% of the students drop out before finishing higher secondary. The committee noted that out of over 1 million government schools, the majority are only primary schools. It also pointed to a major shortfall in facilities for Divyang students.
