At least eight people died and over 100 were hospitalised in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, after allegedly consuming contaminated drinking water in the Bhagirathpura area, officials said. The deaths were reported between December 25 and 30, after residents complained of an unusual taste and smell in municipal water. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced ₹2 lakh compensation for families of the deceased.
