Tsunami waves have been observed across several areas of Japan following a 7.4-magnitude earthquake. A tsunami wave of 80 cm hit a port in northern Japan, the country's meteorological agency said. Warnings and advisories of tsunami waves as high as three metres have been issued for Fukushima, Iwate and Aomori prefectures, as well as Hokkaido, the country's northernmost main island.
