Indian Railways planted 81.59 lakh trees across all zones in 2025-26, with Northeast Frontier Railway contributing 9.3 lakh. The drive aims to cut carbon emissions, boost biodiversity, and improve environmental conditions, making rail travel greener and healthier for passengers. The Ministry of Railways shared the data on Wednesday to mark World Earth Day, with the theme, "Our Power, Our Planet."
