According to a report in Taipei Times, from January 2024 to end of last month,102 cases were reported of Taiwanese citizens being interrogated or detained while travelling in China. The report said 89 Taiwanese went missing in China during this period. While China claims Taiwan as part of its mainland, Taiwan sees itself as distinct with its own constitution.
