The Central Government has announced the 8th Pay Commission, benefiting nearly 49 lakh employees and 65 lakh pensioners. Effective January 1, 2026, the expected salary hike of 25 to 30 percent is based on a proposed fitment factor of 2.6 to 2.85. Pensions, NPS contributions, and CGHS slabs will also be revised to reflect the new pay structure.
