Nine of the total 23 IITs in India have decided to withdraw the option of letting first-year students switch their branches after the first year. The move is aimed at de-stressing the students, who've to score a CGPA higher than 7.50 to be eligible for the branch change. As per experts, only 10% students are able to switch branches.
