9 Indian fishermen arrested by Sri Lanka for fishing across border

The Sri Lankan Navy on Thursday arrested nine Indian fishermen and seized their boats for allegedly fishing across the border. The fishermen were a part of a larger group of 297 fishing boats that had sailed from the Rameswaram Port on Wednesday after being issued formal fishing permits. Earlier, 11 fishermen had been detained by Sri Lanka on August 6.
