A court in Tamil Nadu's Madurai convicted all nine policemen accused in connection with custodial deaths of trader P Jayaraj and his son J Benicks in 2020. The father-son duo, who ran a mobile shop, were arrested for allegedly keeping it open beyond permitted hours during lockdown. The case was transferred to and investigated by CBI following public outrage.
