US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated on Sunday that smartphones, computers, other electronic products and semiconductors will be subject to separate sector-based tariffs. India successfully tested its high-energy laser weapon system capable of neutralising drones and other aerial threats with precision. The MK-II(A) Laser-Directed Energy Weapon (DEW) system defeated the fixed wing UAV and swarm drones, DRDO Chairman Samir Kamat said, adding that India has joined exclusive club of global powers who possess this system. Kamat called it a Star Wars-like technology.

India has unveiled a 30-kilowatt laser-based weapon system which can shoot down fixed-wing aircraft, missiles and swarm drones. India showcased the weapon system's capability for the first time in Andhra Pradesh's Kurnool. At least 21 people were killed after a Russian ballistic missile hit the Ukrainian city of Sumy on Sunday morning. Indians with H-1B visas and Green Cards in the US will now have to carry their ID 24/7 as part of a directive by US President Donald Trump's administration. The requirement applies to all noncitizens. The directive went into effect on April 11 and aims to crack down on illegal immigration and deport millions living illegally in the US.

Three people have been killed as protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act spiralled into violence in West Bengal's Murshidabad. Over 150 people have been arrested, according to a government statement. The Calcutta High Court has ordered the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) in the affected areas, calling the situation "grave and volatile".
