Former Sunderland footballer Adam Johnson has been sentenced to six years imprisonment for grooming and engaging in sexual activity with a minor under the age of 16. While being sentenced, Johnson was told that he had abused a position of trust and caused his victim severe psychological harm. Earlier, following his admission of guilt, Sunderland had terminated his contract.
