Adidas was criticised after it made supermodel Bella Hadid, a Palestine supporter, the face of its advertisement for the 1972 Munich Olympic sneakers relaunch. In 1972, 11 members of Israel's Olympic team were killed by Palestinian terrorists in Munich. The American Jewish Committee said choosing Bella was either a "massive oversight or intentionally inflammatory". Subsequently, Adidas apologised.
