Puma Founder Rudolf Dassler founded the company after a misunderstanding with his brother and Adidas Founder Adolf Dassler. Adolf was reportedly in a bomb-shelter during bombing of their town in WW II, when he said, "The dirty bastards are back again," referring to the bombers. Rudolf thought that insult was directed at him, and brothers eventually split the parent company.
