Adidas to close robotic shoe-making factories in Germany, US

German sportswear brand Adidas has announced it will shut down its robotic 'Speedfactories' for shoe production in the US and Germany by April 2020. The experimental factories are largely automated to enable high-speed and large scale production of shoes. Adidas said it would use the Speedfactory technologies to produce athletic footwear at two of its existing human-powered factories in Asia.
