German dictator Adolf Hitler married his longtime companion Eva Braun on April 29, 1945. Their marriage, however, lasted less than 40 hours as both of them committed suicide the next day. As the German defeat in World War II seemed imminent, Hitler had decided to end his life instead of trying to flee or surrendering to the Allied forces.
