Afghan man arrested for synagogue arson in Germany

A 37-year-old Afghan national was arrested in Wuppertal, Germany, after allegedly throwing flammable liquid at a synagogue and setting it alight. The fire was quickly extinguished; no injuries reported. He made antisemitic comments during arrest. Weapons including knives and a machete were found in his apartment. Attack occurred ahead of Yom Kippur.
