'African elephants being born without tusks due to poaching'

According to researchers, a large number of African elephants are being born without tusks due to poaching. Since poachers, over decades, have targeted animals for ivory, it has resulted in an alteration of the gene pool, researchers said. Further, in some areas, 98% of female elephants have no tusks, resulting in a higher probability of producing tuskless offspring.
