Grammy-winning US singer Ciara is one of the first public figures to become a citizen of the African country of Benin under its recent law that grants citizenship to descendants of enslaved people. "By legally recognising these children of Africa, Benin is healing a historical wound. It's an act of justice," Justice Minister Yvon Détchénou said.
