African wild dogs trek thousands of kilometres to find mates: Study

African wild dogs can travel more than 4,000 km across the continent in search of mates, according to a new study. Three brothers covered 4,126 km over eight months, marking the longest recorded dispersal by any African mammal, the study found. Four dispersing groups covered a combined 9,863 km, more than twice the width of the United States, it added.
