US government announced a temporary 30-day waiver allowing countries to buy sanctioned Russian oil stranded at sea amid the energy crisis sparked by the Middle East war. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent called it a "narrowly tailored, short-term measure" which wouldn't provide "significant financial benefit" to Russia. US had earlier granted a 30-day waiver to India to buy Russian oil.
