AI in healthcare: Cheaper treatment remains an unproven promise

AI is helping Indian hospitals streamline documentation, diagnostics, and administrative tasks, but lower treatment costs remain unproven. Interviews with five healthcare leaders and a Bain–HealthQuad report show gains in efficiency and capacity, while implementation expenses persist. Hospitals say savings are largely absorbed internally rather than directly reducing patients’ bills.
