An AI robot named 'Ace', built by Sony, defeated top human players at table tennis, winning three of five matches against elite competitors who had over a decade of experience. However, it lost two matches against professional players. "This research has shown that an autonomous robot can, in fact, win at a competitive sport," said Ace project leader Peter Dürr.
