On the alleged suppression of sales amounting to about ₹70,000 crore by hotels and restaurants across India, the Income Tax department said they used AI-enabled analytical tools to do it. Data from about 1.77 lakh restaurants was assessed, and it was compared with the turnover declared in I-T returns, the department said. The restaurants deleted their bills in bulk.
