The C Ve Shanmugam-led faction of AIADMK has extended support to Tamil Nadu CM Joseph Vijay, signalling a potential split in the party. Shanmugam said this was done after proposals were made for AIADMK to form government with DMK, which goes against the party's founding principles. "AIADMK was founded to uproot DMK...Mandate is for Vijay to become CM," Shanmugam added.
