The All India Football Federation has decided to revamp Indian football into a three-tier structure from 2017/18 season onwards. The Indian Super League will be the nation's top tier league ​while the I-league and 2nd Division I-League will be re-christened to 'League 1' and 'League 2' respectively. Notably, relegations and promotions will be observed in all leagues except the ISL.
