AIIMS flags acute liver failure risk on World Hepatitis Day

On World Hepatitis Day 2026, AIIMS New Delhi warned that Hepatitis A and E account for nearly 30% of acute liver failure cases in India. Experts said safe drinking water, vaccination, early testing and timely treatment can prevent severe liver disease. India also continues to face a high burden of Hepatitis B, C and fatty liver disease.
