Air India Express could merge into Air India: Report

Air India CEO-designate Tewolde Gebremariam is considering folding low-cost subsidiary Air India Express into the parent group, Bloomberg reported. The main objective would be to reduce costs and improve efficiency, as Air India Express would retain its brand if the merger happens, as per the sources cited. Air India reported a loss of around ₹22,000 crore for FY26.
