The Air India flight began losing its altitude before the plane even crossed the boundary wall of the Ahmedabad airport, according to AAIB's preliminary report. It began moving on runway at 08:07:37 (UTC) on June 12, and achieved maximum recorded speed of 180 knots (about 333 kmph) about a minute later. Pilots gave 'Mayday' call 23 seconds after that.
