According to Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) report on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, the plane was destroyed due to impact with buildings on the ground and subsequent fire. The crash destroyed at least five buildings, it added. The wreckage, from first impact point till last identified aircraft item, was distributed in around 1000 ft by 400 ft area.
