Air pollution disrupts gut health, speeds up heart disease: Study

Air pollution may harm more than the lungs and heart. A UCLA Health study found that ultrafine air particles disrupt gut bacteria, trigger liver stress, and accelerate artery plaque buildup. In mice, polluted air exposure altered the gut microbiome and increased metabolic stress, linking air pollution to faster heart disease development.
