Wyoming-based Airloom Energy's novel wind turbine design promises to advance the field of utility-scale wind energy generation. A typical Airloom runs 33-foot wing blades along an 80-foot-high, lightweight, oval-shaped track. Compared to the regular turbine, a 2.5-MW Airloom track will fit on a single truck and will be less than 10% of the cost, totaling under $225,000.
