The Soviet Union completed the development of assault rifle 'AK-47' on November 13, 1947. It is also called 'Avtomat Kalashnikova' as it was designed by Russian general and inventor Mikhail Kalashnikov. AK-47's development took two years as it began in 1945, the last year of World War II. AK-47 was officially accepted by the Soviet Armed Forces in 1949.
