Algerian court sentenced French-Algerian writer Boualem Sansal to five years in jail for "undermining national unity". Sansal, a critic of Islamism and of the Algerian government, has been in detention since November and was hospitalised due to ill health. France's Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that they "regret the sentencing" and called for a quick end to this situation.
