Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Union Budget 2025-26 said that the government will arrange for identity cards and registration on the e-Shram portal for all online platform workers and gig workers. "They will be provided healthcare under Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana," Sitharaman said. "This measure is likely to assist nearly 1 crore gig workers," she added.
